Growing up as a Nigerian, I always prayed fervently against all forms of trouble and offence whatsoever.
But; come to think of it, how do I get to experience PEACE in the midst of Turmoil if I actually do not find myself in one?
Here is a story (true life) of how I was able to experience God's peace in the midst of trouble and confusion.
My Story...
The sun was burning so fiercely; my skin was getting "fried" from the effect. A client was supposed to meet with me at a certain time, and in that moment of heat, I "jumped" the nearest vehicle to meet up with the client.
Getting to the client's, we began our discussion. Then, out of the blues came a lady who claimed I vandalised her property. The look on my face was that of great shock and embarrassment considering the fact that I was unaware of the damages to her property until today, and I was with a prospective client as well.
I made sure I stalled her for a bit, so that I will comfortably attend to my client and wrap things up with him, which I was able to do thankfully. I then turned to face the lady and I listened to all the noise she made on the streets.
After a whole lot of explanations and argument, I just found my self in a deeper mess than I envisaged. At this point, I was about to erupt on the inside of me to scream my innocence in her face.
That was when I heard the gentle voice that said, " you have been praying for peace in the midst of a turmoil, now is the best time.", I smiled.
Then, I began to speak in other tongues. gradually, I was filled with an overwhelming peace that I could not explain.
The tantrums were being raised, voices clashed, questionings happened all around me. But, in d midst of these, I was in an overwhelming peaceful state. This came as a shock to the lady, her colleagues and the 'uniformed' man brought in to sort things out.
2 hours passed as I stood and waited patiently for matters to be sorted. Graciously, God sent help.
As the woman rained fire and brimstone from her mouth, I rained tongues and songs from the place of the peace of the Spirit of God.
Matters got sorted, I was vindicated and I went home. With praises and smiles, I thanked my God for a lesson taught and learnt.
Now, I know exactly what true peace means whenever I hear about it.
You really don't claim peace when you see credit alerts on a regular. Neither do you sense peace when your garage is full with different car ranges.
HE has said, "my peace I give to you, not as the world gives."
This story, my friends, is the true definition of "experience is the best teacher".
My own experience, became my own teacher and now, a testimony to others.
Because, asides the peace I received, I also learnt a whole lot of other lessons.
There is something about the Peace of God that transcends all human understanding. It shows that you are totally LETTING GO & LETTING GOD handle whatever situation it is that you are in. (TRUST).
I just hope, that this piece, ministers to someone who is devoid of God's peace today.
