" Many people think that simply because they've been in the same shoes (situation) with someone else, then they must indeed know how the person really feels and are in an adequate position to counsel from experience; but there might be a little glitch to that thought.
I have 2 siblings. We all wear the same shoe - our dad passed when we least expected it. You would think that it should have been easy for me to accurately connect with my siblings or even with others who have lost their parents; but even though we wear the same shoes, our feet obviously aren't the same. Our personalities are different, our philosophies about dealing with that situation was different. The level of relationship we had was different.
Don't be quick to pull off the "I know what you are going through" card on anyone except you are sure your feet size are the same size.
It's okay, if you don't know what a person is going through. Still pray for and encourage the best way you can."
